Post Liberty News

This is terrible of me I know, but I have been feeling blog guilty since my last post which was almost a few weeks ago. I blame my family for visiting and many passers by who made London their prime destination before heading back home to prepare for a months worth of fasting. In the last month or so I seemed to have re-discovered every nook and corner of this city with my little brother, embracing the sunshine and cool breeze to have icy drinks on the river or tan in the park. Another light yet fruitful event that I attended a week ago that befitted the summer mood was the Liberty print exhbition opening. On the Carnaby street exit of the Liberty store an airy extension store has opened its doors to its visitors. You won't be able to miss it naturally as the store has been clad in classic liberty print, probably straight from their archives. You also do not want to miss the Print Charming exhibit on the 4th floor if you around the area.

They said to wear your finest print!

Showstudio Open For Business

I had one of my great moments of 09 yesterday. I finally made some time in my lame email-filled life to visit the Showstudio part gallery part live studio. I was skipping and trotting on the way there from Green Park station so excited on the prospect of meeting my idol/icon Nick Knight. As I was nearing the new address of Showstudio I saw 1-9 Bruton Place and out of the door waltzed the tall thin photographer in dark grey suit looking sharp and elegant. And what do you think happened to the biggest fan of Showstudio and Nick Knight to do? I froze dead in my tracks like a deer caught in headlights. Armed with my D-40 I simply stood there as Nick walked down the street and disappeared into the crowds. I was so frustrated and am still kicking myself about it right now but I'm sure there will be other opportunities to visit the gallery and meet him again since I live pretty close to the space now. There were movers still moving furniture and installation about in the gallery but the new residence was stunning with lots of room, white space and natural light coming in. I can't wait to attend upcoming exhibits and see what they come up with next. Welcome to your new home Showstudio!

Street Styling the FA way

In my year of path-finding I tested out the street style blogger route and found it wasn't for me. It was way to exhausting hunting for street stylers, talking to them, finding a nice place to shoot them, and then share contacts etc etc. It just seemed like a routinely, repetitive process and my heart wasn't in it. It also made me respect street style artists like the Facehunter, Glamcanyon, and the Sartorialist for turning it photo snapping on the street into a fine art. But yesterday at Wimbledon I couldn't help but snap up Wimbledon summery stylers walking around the grounds. I anonymously started taking photos of people while my feet were soaking in cold water at Murray Mount. These are some images of walking pass-byers.
